Eating breakfast is an important part of Turkish family tradition. Menemen is one of the flavorful and delicious Turkish breakfast that is highly addictive. It’s fast and easy to prepare and extremely nutritious.


  • 5 eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 tomatoes, peeled and finely diced
  • 3 green peppers, finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp olive oil or 2 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Step 1

Melt the butter or heat olive oil in a large pan.

Step 2

Add in chopped onion and green peppers, saute until tender.

Step 3

Add the tomatoes, mixing well.

Step 4

Allow the mixture to cook for 5 min or until the tomatoes begin to soften.

Step 5

Whisk the eggs in a bowl and pour into the tomato, onion and pepper mixture.

Step 6

Stir gently and let the mixture continue to simmer until the eggs are cooked.

Step 7

Season with salt and pepper.

Step 8

Make sure you don’t overcook, otherwise it will be dry. Serve with bread. Enjoy!
