Rice pilaf is famous all over the world and served in some of the finest restaurants as a side dish to meats. Rice pilaf is a perfect accompaniment for grilled meats, stews, vegetables, salads or with yogurt. This recipe is so easy with simple ingredients and comes together in about 45 minutes, including soaking and resting time.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice
  • ¼ of a cup orzo
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp butter

Method

Step 1

Wash the rice several times with warm water. Then cover the rice with hot water and leave minimum 15 minutes then drain.

Step 2

Put canola oil in a pot and put on medium heat. Once the olive oil is hot, pour the orzo and stir constantly until the orzo is light brown. Be careful not to burn.

Step 3

Add the washed rice and stir for a minute.

Step 4

Add 3 cups of water and the butter to the rice. Stir and add salt. Taste the water of rice to make sure salt is to your liking.

Step 5

Cover pot. Once the water in the rice starts to boil, turn the heat on low and let it cook until all the water is evaporated.

Step 6

Usually it takes about 20 minutes. Let the pilaf stand for about 5 minutes for brewing. Then you can serve it.
