Traditional dishes always have special recipes. These recipes used to be kept secret and no one would want to tell anyone. As technology develops, everyone can become a great cook in his own kitchen. The dry bean recipe is below and this recipe is special for every Turkish woman.

Fasulye has been in Turkish cuisine since the 18th century. Does the flavor increase day by day? I am sure there are some dishes whose recipes have not changed since the day it was first discovered, and dry beans are one of them. It is ridiculous to say that every meal will be more beautiful as time goes on. In some kitchens it is made as spicy and in others it is meat but recipes do not change very little.

For the Turks, beans are an important nutrient source, and there are varieties such as green beans, white beans and red beans.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white beans
  • 150 gr. beef or lamb meat, cut in cubes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, peeled and diced
  • 1+ ¾ cup hot water
  • Salt
  • Red pepper

Method

Step 1

Wash white beans, place them in a pot and cover with water. Leave them in water overnight. The next day, drain and boil in a pot for about 30-35 minutes. The white beans should be soft, but not mushy after boiling.

Step 2

In other pot saute chopped meat with oil untill they are brown.

Step 3

Then add onions and saute 2-3 minutes over medium heat.

Step 4

Stir in pepper, tomato and tomato paste. Add hot water and salt.

Step 5

Simmer until the meat is soft. Add cooked white beans to the pot.

Step 6

Simmer for 10 minutes over low heat. If necessary add a little bit more hot water. Serve with rice or bulgur pilaf.
